Our hearts are heavy with the news that Richard Young has passed last week. Richard was not only one of the most prominent production managers in the industry, responsible for some of the most impressive productions in recent years including Pink!, Adele, Lorde, or Radiohead, he was also at various times a colleague, friend, mentor, and always a revered member of the L-Acoustics family.
Richard was a perfectionist and visionary. He was uncommonly sharp and, through his background as an audio engineer, had a unique ability to understand and demystify technology to elevate the Artist and fan experience. He cared deeply about production quality and was not afraid of taking calculated risks, often pushing boundaries for the most advanced and best-sounding live concerts.
Richard was a dear friend of L-Acoustics. From taking K1 on tour for the first time with Radiohead in 2008 to managing production for the first L-ISA Hyperreal tour for Lorde’s Melodrama Tour in 2018 with longtime partner Firehouse Productions, we’ll remember him as an uncompromising innovator and brilliant mind, and are forever grateful for his trust, support and guidance over the years.
Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who had the chance to learn from him. We’ll remember the time we spent with him fondly, and we mourn his loss.
