Robin 25th April 2021

I first met Richard almost 20 years ago on one of his early tours as a PM. I was the local promoter rep in Glasgow on what I seem to think was day one of the tour. We had a great day together, so much so we stayed in touch outside of work while also crossing paths on tours over the years and becoming good friends. My lasting memory of Richard will be when he showed such compassion and kindness towards me. While on tour in 2013 I was onstage during load in when an accident happened. In the aftermath of it all I received lots of messages, mostly wanting to know what had happened. Richard got in touch and his first question was ‘are you alright?’. He didn’t want to know the details about the accident, he wanted to make sure I was ok. That meant more to me than he probably realised. He happened to be in the same country at the time and luckily our schedules allowed us to meet a few days later. Although he was busy, he took time out to meet up and we spent the day together. We talked, he listened, he showed empathy and gave so much support during that time. It will never be forgotten. You brought so much to our industry, not just as an excellent production manager but, more importantly, as a good human being and friend. Your parents and family should be proud of you. My only regret is that you never knew how much you meant to me as a friend. You’re going to be missed mate. For my friend, Richard. RIP.
